The literary portfolio: Summative assessment of literary competences in autonomous learning environments

چکیده

This article reports on the development of literary portfolio as an alternative to standard written tests in summative assessment competences English a foreign language (EFL) classroom. It is argued that traditional class put too narrow focus those aspects are more readily operationalized and thus lend themselves better testing. This, however, may result negative washback teaching. Building on, operationalizing, model competence by Diehr Surkamp (2015), designed cover various dimensions this complex competence. At same time, it tackles problem dealing with readers often leaves students little freedom pursue their own (reading) interests or set priorities working texts. The allows take responsibility for learning they can choose text from shortlist, tasks work levels cooperation peers. As will be demonstrated case study carried out eighth-grade intermediate-level EFL classroom, implementation entailed innovative way literature autonomous environment.
